Xcite Concept
Xcite [sprich: excite, ik-sahyt = begeistern, erregen]
Xcite is the telescopic fork series from german:A.©. During conception of Xcite, our main goal was to create the lightest single bridge design available, while still achieving the best stiffness. In typical german:A.© manner we did not stick with the conventions used in standard bike design, but questioned everything and got our fingers on every possible solution. As a product we gained Xcite as a masterpiece of engineering, on the edge of performance, lightweight and stiffness. Read the specifications below:
Stanchion 36 mm
Even all-mountain and enduro bikes up-to-now only had 32mm stanchions, but we believed in something “bigger”. We combined 36mm stanchions with the oversized architecture, well known from aluminum frames. As a result Xcite is the new standard in stiffness and safety in the class of light XC and marathon forks.
"Muscle-Design", Flap-Design
We applied the knowledge about the design of muscles to our Xcite fork. Placing tendons on the right spots on the supporting structure (just as a muscle connected to bone) improved Xcite’s stiffness once more. On the other hand side, “Flap-Design” optimizes german:A.®- Xcite’s aerodynamics such that it seems to fly through the winds, preventing the drag often produced by other forks.
"Straight-Dropout-Design"
Usually the drop out of telescopic forks is build using a displacement to achieve the necessary fork offset. Often this displacement is done using heavy parts and pieces. german:A.© –Xcite instead creates the fork offset by keeping an angle between the stanchions and the steer tube – such that the stanchions and outer-tubes point straight to the front axle. This (Straight-Dropout-Design) reduces weight while improving stiffness.
DoubleX
DoubleX Concept
XCITE DOUBLE X
In 2011 we take our well established and race tested XCITE technology up to a new level. Even more travel and a even wider range of possible uses require new and bold solutions. To insure maximum stiffness with further increased travel and a consequently further growing hub to crown width a double bridge is the only viable option. Therefore here are some facts about the double crown construction principle:
DOUBLE CROWN DESIGN
For those wondering about the maximum angle of turn, just stop and think about it for a moment, in forward movement no angle of turn larger than 90° becomes necessary or viable. Nevertheless to ensure a maximum angle of turn, the necessary offset has been integrated into the crowns itself. Besides it enables the use of a straight dropout design with its further advantages. The stanchions and outer-tubes point straight to the front axle. This reduces weight while improving stiffness. Stiffness: A double crown fork possesses a superior stiffness and safety, with the same amount of in comparison with a single crown construction. On another note a double crown fork is not by default more dangerous to a frame than a single crown design. In a crash the fork might prove more resilient than a particularly fragile frame, which might be the cause of reservations harboured by some frame manufacturer.
INTEGRATED HANDLEBAR
A further particularly spectacular highlight in Double X is the optional integrated handlebar. Combining over-all system weight with previously unknown ergonomic adjustability. The easily adjusted integrated steerer also enables various positions, for different riding stiles and uses.
INTEGRATED HUMAN MACHINE INTERFACE (HMI)
For every rider the connection to his bike and feedback from his bike is crucial, but for a “2000 watts E-bike”, like our E-rider for example, it becomes paramount. The perfect display integration for all relevant riding information enables intuitive usage and handling even under extreme conditions. Furthermore HMI creates a far more professional appearance and easier acceptance. In order to avoid even more confusion and chaos with another display and cables, we went for a clean solution. The Double X provides the fi rst build in display in combination with one of the lightest 160 mm forks in the world.

Extra features for all models
Lockout with Blow-Off-Vale (approx. 60gr extra) |
||
Remote control for travel-adjust (approx. 82gr extra). Travel-adjust is standard, only the remote is optional |
||
From April 2011 we offer an optional 15 mm / 20 mm thru-axle bolt! |
Lockout
The lockout is placed on the top left side of the crown (see the golden button on the picture on the right hand side). You control it directly, a remote is not available. Without a lockout system, there is a red button instead of the golden one. This red button’s only function is to cover the refill valve..

Travel-Adjust
All Xcite standard versions are equipped with our travel adjust system. Lowering the travel works either manually at the fork itself, or via the optional remote control from the handlebar. (Move your mouse on the picture to the right to alternate view between standard and optional setup) |
